Chiropractic

Chiro Extended: A chiropractic extended session might include, but is not limited to, an adjustment which combines manual therapies & the chiropractor’s use of modalities. This treatment type incorporates exercise programs to help increase long-term reduction in tightness and/or spasms.


Acupuncture

An acupuncture session is based on influencing & prompting the body by inserting needles in delegated pressure points, these are known as acupoints. Acupuncture is a derivative of Chinese medicine which focuses on balancing the stream of energy, known as qi (chee).

As a physiotherapist, Anne-Sophie seeks to help patients recover from injuries and promote a safe and healthy lifestyle. She has obtained her Masters in Physiotherapy and her Bachelors in Human Kinetics both from the University of Ottawa. In addition to her career in Physiotherapy, Anne-Sophie is also a certified swimming instructor with the City of Ottawa, with a passion for teaching adults and swimmers with special needs. Both her education and experience have helped her advance in the field of health care. Dr. Maryse Pion has more than 18 years of experience as a physiotherapist and 14 years of experience as a chiropractor and acupuncturist. She is a graduate of the University of Ottawa in physiotherapy, a certified chiropractor from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in Toronto as well as a licensed acupuncturist with the College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists of Ontario. She also completed her Masters in Rehabilitation at McMaster University. She has achieved certifications in concussion management, taping, orthotics and more. In 2005, Dr. Maryse returned to her hometown of Cochrane, ON, and opened Back In Motion Plus, a rehabilitation and wellness clinic, where she worked as a physiotherapist, chiropractor and acupuncturist. In 2015, Dr. Maryse moved to Orleans, ON. where she continued her career in a multidisciplinary centre and a wellness clinic. In September 2019, Dr. Maryse opened Back In Motion Plus in Orleans, ON. Her goal is to provide high-quality care and help people live a healthy and active life. Dr. Maryse is actively involved in her community as a director and trainer with girls’ hockey. She is also an avid athlete who trains and competes in several “Spartan” races annually. As a mother of four children, she understands the importance of time management, health and a balanced lifestyle.

Dr. Mishka Thomson was born and raised on the south shore of Montreal and is fluent in both French and English. She received her undergraduate degree in Science from the University of Waterloo followed by her Doctor of Chiropractic from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in Toronto in 2005. After graduating, she and her husband moved overseas where they travelled and she worked as a chiropractor in London, UK. In 2008, they returned to Ontario where Mishka locumed for various practices across the province until she settled in her own practice in Toronto. In 2012 she completed a goal of becoming a Certified Animal Chiropractor through the Veterinary Chiropractic Learning Centre. In the summer of 2023, she and her family made the decision to move to Ottawa to be closer to family and the outdoor lifestyle they value.

Mishka’s training in a multitude of different techniques including Sacro-Occipital Technique, Activator, Thompson, Diversified and Cranio-sacral Technique provide her with many lenses with which to view human and animal bodies. She is trained to make orthotics and also holds certification in Webster Technique, a pelvic balancing technique used for pregnant women.

Mishka loves working with children, pregnant women and families just as much as athletes. She enjoys cranial and extremity work (bring on the shoulders and feet!) and everything in-between. Her experience with animals ranges from horses to bunnies, cats and dogs; high-level agility dogs as well as post-op cases, general injuries and dogs suffering with arthritis.

In her off-time, Mishka loves cycling, hiking and snowboarding with her husband Jason, her kids Bennett and Averie and their pup Harry.
